Colors of the Mediterranean (to feed be-wintered eyes)

February 9, 2011

Close your eyes.

Feel the warm breath of summer, the smell of the ocean, the lift of the breeze like the touch of a loved one.

The day is cooling and stealth of night mixes with the balm of heat still rising from the pavement.

The fatigue of a day well spent sits comfortably in your bones, relaxing your muscles and letting you feel held by this great wide world.

Sunset on the Mediterranean, originally uploaded by creativeisthmus.

Listen to the sounds, let your minds eye travel to the farthest reaches of your imagination.

Love every moment, every breath, because the beauty of it, every precious memory that brings you to that place of calm, exists and is held within you even now. Even in the deep of winter.

I took I this photo in the town of Sitges, just south of Barcelona. The water there is green and warm even in November and the sunset sits like spun gold draped across the horizon. A moments vacation and a poem that sounds almost like a prayer to my mind:

The Goddess in me
Comb my soul
Like your shimmering hair
That all the knots
And tangles
And bits of less than perfect
May fall loosely and effortlessly
To the floor
That I may see you clearly
And my soul may swing in your dance
Unencumbered

To your warm and beautiful days, may they fill you even in the depths of winter!
