Passing on the Torch: Versatile Blogger Awards

May 19, 2011

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of being honored with the Versatile Blogger Award by The Rag Tree (whose blog I also highly recommend!).

Who better to kick off a celebration than a giant Paul Bunyan?

Being new to the land of blogging, I found this to be quite a delicious, delightful surprise!

It is now my duty to pass this honor on to other bloggers.  I have pondered this task quite a bit and taken some time in turning over how I’ll choose, who to mention and what I will say.

I must inform you that, what I’ve decided to do is to send you on an internet tour extravaganza and introduce you to the blogs I myself prefer to frequent.  Of the many blogs, these are the ones I come back to in all kinds of moments–looking for inspiration, interest, information, point of view and eye candy to name a few.  I’m not quite sure what the inventer had in mind when he or she titled this award the “Versatile” Blogger Award.  Some of these blogs have themes, others do not, but to me they are all “versatile” as they seem to do content calisthenics that take their readers on a journey only they can create.

Hailing From The Edge— I have directed you all to Zachary’s blog before and I wholeheartedly do so again.  Zach writes commentary on videogames that surpass any market commentary I have ever read.  I don’t play videogames, I never really have but I keep checking back to this one for new posts because every one makes me think.  He has a way of bringing social ideas, commentary and human analysis into the conversation that sets my mind going.  Check it out!

Stories of She— Lindsey’s writing blows my mind, takes my breath away, and inspires me to live life to the fullest and seek out the deeper, truer nature in all things.  It’s hard to say anything more amazing about someone than that.  Her integrity and insights are phenomenal.  Read her work, sit with it, meditate on it, and go back and do it all over again.  You won’t regret a darn thing.

Body in Balance–Dancing, movement, massage, and the body.  Incite your mind, ignite your passions and move your body!  This blog is full of insights on body work, movement, dance and much more.  And, if you’re ever in upstate New York, you can even get a massage from the author herself!

Wanderlust— I believe I mentioned eye candy, yes?  I come back again and again to this blog because her photos are amazing!  They tell a story, take me to another place and set my feet to itching for travel and adventure (and occasionally set my mouth to watering with food photography).  I highly recommend her work!

The Photodiarist— Eye candy (part II) and nostalgia for New York City.  I rarely find myself taking portrait photography but have great respect for those who do.  The Photodiarist takes some of the best portraits I have ever seen.  I feel like I get the priveledge of seeing the full breadth and spectrum of humanity through this artist’s lens and I am incredibly grateful.  Take a peek, you’ll want to come back for more!

Post-Collegiate Cooking a Deux— Speaking of hungry… This blog makes my day quite often!  Not only are the recipes delicious but the wit and panache of these writers has me rolling on the floor with laughter quite regularly.  I highly recommend the Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza.  Even though I lived in New York long enough to have loyalty ties…this has become a staple for nights with friends!

amber demure— although her stories occasionally leave me worrying for her health and well being, I must take my hat off to this brazen storyteller.  Her art and timing are fantastic, she is honest and has me laughing with just about every post.  Her site is worth visiting on a regular basis!

Fifteen Spatulas— She is rising in noteriety!  and for great reason!  Joanne’s blog will make you hungry, inspire you to cook and help you learn how to circumnavigate the craziness of pre-processed food.  A complete gem.

Style is Style— Lydia’s words have moved me.  Her photography and sense of style are lighthearted and uplifting.  She is one of those bloggers who makes me think perhaps fashion can become more a means of personal artistic expression than social conformity.  I hope she inspires you too.  I find her work quite refreshing!

Hyperbole and a Half— you will roll on the floor with laughter.  I promise!

Joy the Baker— also a well known blogger.  But I must award her nonetheless!  I check her page quite often, love everything about it and her recipes have become staples for my daily life (Vegan chocolate cupcakesoatmeal applesauce blueberry muffins?  yes, oh yes)

And to end I shall send you to two blogs that I have only just begun to read:

An Elf in the Forest— I have read Ancient Heart about 5 times in the past two days and I can’t wait to read more!

The Atheist Hagadah— a fascinating concept and I am interested to see how he develops it!

Bon Voyage and Happy Reading!
