More than just wishing on an August Meteor

August 13, 2011

The Time Before the Dawn

Today I saw shooting stars across the night sky.

I was told we are passing through the remnants of a comet’s path, through the very trail of a celestial body.  Such a beautiful image to my mind, akin to stumbling across the steps of a prophet, the path of a great master, Buddha, or Jesus.  There is something in the brilliance left behind by the passage of greatness that is invigorating, joyful and filled with wonder.

Witnessing streaks of light passing through the heavens, breaking light and motion across the starry canvas of the night sky inspires me to new heights.  Heavenly bodies and spiritual masters alike, witnessing greatness is a miraculous experience, shedding light and love on everyday lives–injecting the extraordinary into what I too often have mistaken for ordinary days or moments.

In truth, there is no such thing as an ordinary moment.  All moments are extraordinary.  Every invigorating breath carries with it the potential for creation–for the deepest and wildest of dreams–carries with it the reality of infinite possibility, hovering, anticipating, ready just below the surface of conscious thought and ready to be brought into being and put into action.

May your shooting stars and meteors shower joy and light into your life and inspire you to create something even more extraordinary than you’d allowed yourself to imagine!
